AP Specialties Issues Power Bank
Charger Recall

Supplier AP Specialties (UPIC: APSPEC) and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued a recall of power bank chargers due to a fire hazard. While no injuries have been reported, there have been three instances of the chargers overheating and one instance of fire damage.

The two-tone power bank chargers are self-contained energy sources used to charge cell phones and other devices while on the go. They are rectangular in shape, measuring approximately 3.6 inches long by 1 inch high by 1 inch wide, and have a white top, while the sides are either black, dark blue, lime green, light blue, orange, pink, purple, red, white or yellow.

Made in China, about 172,000 of the chargers were distributed as promotional items from November 2013 to August 2014. The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the charger and contact AP Specialties for a replacement.

To learn more , distributors who have offered the products can contact AP Specialties at (888) 877-7221 from 8 am – 5 pm ET, Monday through Friday or online at www.apspecialties.com and click on Product Recall, or go directly to www.powerbankrecall.com for more information.
